Expanded PTFE gaskets are high-grade sealing materials made from expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE). They are produced by mixing PTFE dispersion resin with silicone oil, followed by processes such as freezing, high-temperature expansion and biaxial stretching to form sheets, which are then fabricated into finished gaskets. This material features resistance to creep and cold flow, ultra-low temperature resistance, non-pollution, and easy installation and replacement. It has a maximum pressure resistance of 20.7 MPa and is resistant to chemical media across a pH range of 0–14 (except molten alkali metals and fluorine), complying with EN 13555 standards and TA-Luft air quality technical requirements.
Its multidirectional fibrous structure forms a dense sealing layer under compression, with a compressibility of 30%–45% and resilience of 10%–25%. It can adapt to rough or worn flange surfaces with low pre-tightening force. The product is suitable for flange sealing applications in chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, food and other industries, especially for equipment such as heat exchangers and compressor frame flanges.
